Terminal Area
The transition of passenger from ground to air in the terminal area. The various method are used to accommodate and transfer the public and its goods arriving either by air or by ground and also to provide for berthing, servicing, storage of the aircrafts.
The key feature of terminal area is the terminal building. It usually refers to a building which is mainly used for the passenger, airline staff and administrative management. For big commercial airport, it may also provide accommodation for various operational activities like control tower, weather bureau, etc.
Facilities to be provided
1. Banks with foreign exchange desk and sometimes open for 24 hours.
2. Bath or shower where the tired passengers can clean up and get refreshed.
3. Bookshops and newspaper sales booth holding a wide range of reading matter including magazine, paper.
4. General information desk and tourist office for giving guidance to the passenger.
5. Medical shop selling toiletries, perfumes, sunglasses, makeup and pharmaceutical goods including airsickness tablet.
6. Post office where letter can dispatched, telephone calls made
7. Medical unit and first aid center where passenger can go for treatment with everything from heart attack to premature birth
8. Restaurant and snacks bar
9. Rest room where passengers can relax and sleep for few hours before departure of aircraft
