House to house collection method
Waste collectors visit each individual house to collect garbage. The users generally pay a fee for this service. In house to house collection, refuse generated and stored in individual premises is collected by several methods.

Alley service
The house owner is responsible for placing the refuse container at the alley line on scheduled day, from where the vehicles workmen collect the container and empty them in refuse vehicle and place the empty container back to the alley line
Set-out, set-in service
In this method, the workmen are divided in two groups. One group is called set-out men, collects the refuse container from the individual house from their yard and empty them in refuse vehicles. Another group called set-in men return the empty container to the house owner’s yard.
Set-out service
In this method, the workmen with refuse vehicle collect the container from the individual houses and empty them in refuse vehicles.
Backyard service
In this method, the workmen with the vehicles carry a refuse collector to the house owner’s yard and empty the refuse container in it. The collector is then taken to refuse vehicles where it is emptied.
